My first book was published in Nov 2025 (Routledge / Taylor & Francis Group), and this was truly a dream come true! I had thought about and dreamed of writing this book for decades - ever since I graduated from my college training program and started working in theatre.
After a whole career as a performer and a budding career as a director/choreographer, I became a university professor - teaching in a musical theatre program - and that's when I knew I had to write this book. Because I believed the support and guidance it would offer to for aspiring actors, whether they were thinking of studying musical theatre, already in a college program, or out in the world making a go of it - would be of value.
As it says on the back cover of the paperback, the goal of this book to help performers "develop the skills to positively and purposefully navigate their careers."
Topics I address include:
And much more!
There are practical tips and exercises all through out the book, along with my template for a daily journal, a few anecdotes from my own performance career, and several quotes and references to my companion podcast, The Mental Game of Musical Theatre.
